So I wasn’t convinced about the sequence of the programming. Askenazy moved the Sibelius to the first item on the card with the Faure and Debussy after interval. Doing this made the two so-called lighter pieces seem a bit redundant and La Mer is somewhat soporific with its’ rolling swells. I’d perhaps have started with Pelleas and then gone straight on the the Sibelius, with the only interval to allow for the the orchestra change. Very difficult to do this programming.
